For the first time in 25 years, the Women's Canadian Fast Pitch Championship is set to take place in Alberta, and Blackfalds is stepping up to the plate as host for the event.

“Softball Canada is excited to award the 2024 Women’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship to Blackfalds, Alberta,” said Gilles LeBlanc, Operation Manager of Softball Canada. “This will mark the first time in 25 years this event will be held in Alberta, and we’re excited to work with the local organizing committee to stage an event that will attract the top Women’s teams in Canada.”

The Championship will run from August 7 to 11, 2024, at Sterling Industries Sports Park (formally All-Star Park) in Blackfalds, Alberta. Athletes and fans from across Canada are expected to attend.

Mayor Jamie Hoover expressed his enthusiasm for the event and the positive impact it will have on the economy and community pride in Blackfalds.

“Blackfalds has long been known as a hub for ball tournaments in Alberta, having one of the premier facilities in the country, and it is fitting that we were selected as the host community for the 2024 Women’s National Fast Pitch Championship,” Hoover said. “We’re excited for the opportunity to have this tournament and prove that we can be a hub in Canada for events such as this. I look forward to welcoming all athletes, teams, and softball fans this August. Play Ball!”
