The Town of Sylvan Lake has taken to social media to urge residents to take caution around the ice. The Town says the ice is frozen in some areas but the thickness of the ice is not reliable with the recent fluctuating temperatures.

Determining safe ice conditions falls on the responsibility of the user not the Town of Sylvan Lake or the province. With temperatures quickly fluctuating, you’ll want to take extra care before venturing out onto the frozen lake.

Today, (December 5, 2023) we are expecting a high of 9°C in the Red Deer area. The last record high was set in 1939 at 16.7°C.
