Charges have been laid in relation to the death of a Sundre resident that occurred on Thursday, Jan. 25th, 2024.

On January 25, 2024, Sundre RCMP responded to a report of a man that had been shot at a residence northeast of Sundre in Mountain View County. The victim, now identified as 36-year-old Justin Goodhand, was pronounced deceased at hospital a short time later. An autopsy was completed on January 26, 2024 which determined that the  death was a homicide.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes unit have charged Richard Mcculloch, age 36, a resident of Sundre, with one count of second degree murder in the death of Justin Goodhand. Richard Mcculloch has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Didsbury Provincial Court on Monday, January 29, 2024. No other suspects are being sought in this investigation.

As this matter is now before the courts, additional details of the investigation will not be provided.
