Family Day is fast approaching, and the Town of Ponoka has a variety of activities for every member of the family to enjoy.  

  

Free public skating:  

The Town of Ponoka is offering free public skating at the Ponoka Arena Complex from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the small ice.  

 

The town will be accepting voluntary donations of non-perishable food items for the Ponoka Food Bank, as admission to the event.  

  

Skate-a-Thon:  

The Ponoka Kinettes and Kinsmen are hosting a Skate-a-Thon at the Ponoka Arena Complex on the large ice from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

 

Funds raised will go to the Ponoka Youth Centre for summer programming, and Cystic Fibrosis Canada.  

 

To sponsor a skater or register as a Skate-a-Thon participant visit the Ponoka Youth Centre (5004 54 Street).  

 

Hot chocolate and cookies will be available for everyone who attends public skating and the Skate-a-Thon.  

  

Outdoor skating:  

The outdoor ice surface next to the Ponoka Arena Complex is open for residents to enjoy during Family Day.  

 

Residents can also enjoy the skating trail at the Lions Centennial Park for leisurely ice skating.   

  

Free public swimming:  

Families can enjoy a free “Everyone Welcome” swim from noon p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ponoka Aquaplex (5315, 46 Avenue).   

 

To support the Ponoka Food Bank, voluntary non-perishable food item donations will be accepted as admission.  

  

Free drop-in golf simulator:  

The Ponoka Golf Club (3519 46 Street) is offering free drop-in access to the golf simulators from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  

  

Cross-country ski trails:  

Cross-country ski trails at the Ponoka Golf Club. The starting and finishing point is down below the main parking lot near the member cart shed.  

  

Tobogganing:  

Tobogganing at the Tom Hamilton Memorial Hill, located in the southwest corner of Froman Industrial Park behind Siding 14 Brewery on 36 Avenue.  

  

Family Walk:  

Exploring and taking a stroll along the walking trails in Ponoka’s Battle River Valley.  

  

Calnash Family Day Event:  

Families can enjoy free activities at the Calnash Ag Event Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including a skijoring demonstration (skiers pulled by horse), a bonfire, carriage rides, hot chocolate, and a bouncy castle.
